Presentation and organisation

Created on January 1, 2014, the Centre of Research in Myology, is a multidisciplinary research center dedicated to research on muscle and its pathologies. The Centre is a Joint Health Research Unit (UMRS 974) with two governing bodies: Sorbonne Université (SU) and the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM). It also benefits from a privileged partnership with l’Association Institut de Myologie (AIM). Located in the heart of the Groupe Hospitalier Pitié-Salpêtrière and the Faculté de Médecine Sorbonne Université, the Research Center benefits from a privileged scientific and medical environment. The center’s activities are dedicated to understanding the muscle in its environment and translating these findings into new concepts to improve the care of patients with muscle diseases.

The Research Center focuses on the development of innovative approaches to cellular, gene or pharmaco-gene therapies, based on the understanding of the molecular pathophysiology of a given disease, and therefore adapted to it. It brings together 150 researchers, doctors, students, engineers and technicians from INSERM, SU, CNRSAPHP and from the  AIM.  Eight research teams and two research groups make up the Research Center, which also has three technical platforms.
